Root or Not Root Your Android Tablets and How?

Posted on 21:29 by Unknown
Android tablet root
If you’ve had an Android device for a while, you’ll have heard of rooting: you just wonder what exactly is “root”, why and how to do it. With the question, you will get a full understanding here.

What is “Root”?

Android is based on Linux. On Linux and other UNIX-like operating systems, the rooted user is equivalent to the Administrator user on Windows. After rooting your device, you have full access to the entire system and can run special types of apps that require root permissions. These apps can disable bloatware, control app permissions, enable tethering, and do lots of other cool things. By default, you don’t have root access to your Android device, and certain apps won’t function without root access.

In a summery, root is breaking certain safeguards placed on your device so that you have complete control over the underlying software and operating system.

Pros and Cons

For rooting system, some Android users will tell you that you’re not getting the full Android experience if you don’t root while others are perfectly happy with their android tablets in the state they bought them, and see no reason to change. So why do people have the different opinion for this? We should see the pros and cons of rooting our android system.

Pros

  • More Customization Options
Rooting allows you to install custom-tailored ROMs to install any current and future OS’s. Some developers have created their own custom ROMs, like CyanogenMod. Others then create new themes for these ROMs, which can totally revamp the way the device looks, acts, and feels. Stock Android already allows for a lot of customization, but this takes it to the next level.
  • Increase Performance or Battery Life
Once rooted, you’ll also be able to alter this yourself. You can replace many parts of the “Android core.” Doing so, you can add new themes, edit the core apps (Maps, Calendar, clock, etc.), change the recovery and boot images, add Linux binaries, and many more.
  • More application choices
You will be able to install apps that are only compatible with rooted phones. For instance, you can install an app for taking a screenshot of your phone, or for overclocking your device, or for tethering.
  • Install applications to your SD card
Once you’ve rooted your tablet, you’ll be able to completely move apps to the SD card leaving you plenty of room on your internal storage.
  • Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Tethering
After having rooted your tablet, you can also use Wi-Fi or Bluetooth tethering to share your cellular data connection with your laptop, PC, or other capable mobile devices.

Cons

  • Void Your Warranty
The most notable risk of rooting is that you will void any warranty that you have on your device .That is to say, if the tablet starts overheating or repeatedly restarting or suffering any other type of malfunction or there is something wrong with calls, text messages, and mobile Internet and any problems like that, your manufacturer and network provider are both entitled to refuse to fix.
  • Brick Your Tablets
Rooting is not a complicated procedure. However, some users may occasionally run into the problem of bricking the tablet.“Bricking” means breaking the device and making it about as useful as a brick. So do a little bit of research first and see if other people report success rooting your tablet is a good idea.
  • Security
If you’re using Google Wallet for NFC payments, you may want to reconsider rooting your tablet. The reason is that Google Wallet has vulnerability on rooted tablets that could allow other apps to access your PIN and other wallet information. Of course, Google Wallet will display a warning message if you run it on a rooted tablet.
  • Lose Your OTA Updates
Your tablet will receive over-the-air updates to its version of Android, for example, little bug fixes or a huge upgrade. If you’ve rooted your tablet, then trying to install any these updates will cause you to lose root — and you will not be able to re-root until someone figures out how to do that for the new version you just upgraded to.

How?

If you decide to root your android tablet after thinking twice, you just want to know how to root the tablet. It is a simple affair if you have the proper application. Before you download the rooting app to root your tablet, make sure the rooting app supports your tablet. Here are the apps that can help you root an Android tablet.

1. Universal 1-Click Root

Use a well-known exploit to root. It cannot support Android versions 2.2.1 or above.

2. Easier 1-2-3 Droid 2 Root

This is a desktop based rooting application working on Windows/Linux/Mac. Download the program, connect your tablet to the computer and run the software to root.

3. z4Root
It changes the root binaries to do its magic.
Download and install it on your tablet to root.

4.SuperOneClick Root

This is the best rooting application ever working on Windows/Linux. Download it to your computer, connect your tablet and root it.

Now you should know the rooting better and whether you decide to root or not, it all depends on you.
